The victim died on the spot and the driver fled the scene of the accident.
The Traffic Police Department of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Police Headquarters is prosecuting a 25-year-old man from Laskod for a well-founded suspicion of failure to provide assistance.
According to the data of the investigation, the suspect was driving a car from Nyírbátor to Nyírgyulaj on January 18th, 2021 at about 10:15 pm when he hit a woman who was walking on the side of the road. As a result of the accident, the 70-year-old woman from Mátészalka suffered so serious injuries that she died on the scene. After the accident, the driver did not stop and fled the scene without giving assistance.
Investigation of the case is still in progress.
